The 2XZ Series consists of two-stage, direct-coupled, oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps designed for applications requiring deeper vacuum than conventional single-stage rotary vane pumps. Two rotary vane pumping stages are arranged in series. Gas is first compressed in the first stage and then transferred to the second stage for further compression before discharge. The direct-coupled design integrates the motor and pump into a compact assembly, reducing installation space and providing stable power transmission with low vibration. With pumping speeds from 0.25 to 25 L/s and ultimate pressure down to 0.6 Pa, the 2XZ Series is suitable for laboratory vacuum, vacuum drying, vacuum coating support, high-vacuum system backing and general industrial applications requiring deeper vacuum performance.
Working Principle
The 2XZ Series operates on the two-stage oil-sealed rotary vane principle. Each pumping stage contains an eccentrically mounted rotor and sliding vanes that divide the pump chamber into variable-volume working spaces. Gas entering the first stage is drawn into the expanding chamber, compressed as the rotor turns, and transferred through the interstage passage to the second stage. The second stage further compresses the gas before final discharge through the exhaust valve. By arranging two rotary vane stages in series, the pressure ratio handled by each stage is reduced, allowing the pump to achieve a significantly lower ultimate pressure than a comparable single-stage rotary vane pump. Vacuum oil provides lubrication, internal sealing and cooling throughout the pumping process.
Key Features
Two-Stage Design
The 2XZ Series uses two rotary vane pumping stages arranged in series. The first stage performs the initial evacuation, while the second stage further compresses the gas before discharge. This staged compression allows the 2XZ Series to achieve deeper vacuum performance than a conventional single-stage rotary vane pump.
Direct-Coupled Design
The motor is directly coupled to the pump drive, eliminating belt transmission and reducing the overall footprint. This compact arrangement provides stable power transmission, convenient installation and low-vibration operation.
Oil-Lubricated Design
Vacuum oil provides lubrication for moving components, seals internal clearances and helps remove heat generated during compression. The oil film between the rotor, vanes and pump chamber helps reduce internal gas leakage and supports stable deep-vacuum performance.
Backing Pump Application
The 2XZ Series can be used as a backing pump for compatible high-vacuum pumping systems, including systems equipped with Roots boosters, diffusion pumps or other high-vacuum stages. Final system performance depends on the complete vacuum-system configuration.
Operating Media
The 2XZ Series is primarily intended for pumping clean, dry and non-corrosive gases. For applications involving condensable vapours, solvents, corrosive or hazardous media, operating conditions must be confirmed separately.
*Ultimate pressure measured without gas ballast, with air at 20°C.
*Pumping speed in L/s. Equivalent m³/h: 0.25 L/s = 0.9 m³/h; 0.5 = 1.8; 1 = 3.6; 2 = 7.2; 4 = 14.4; 6 = 21.6; 8 = 28.8; 15 = 54; 25 = 90.
